On the weekend of April 7-8, 2017, Nawakwa Lodge will host a Trail Crew Service Project located at Powhatan State Park building a connector trail from the camping facility to the trail system. This is a great opportunity to participate in a service project that will literally leave a legacy beyond the lodge and for years to come in the greater community. You are encouraged to sign up for this weekend of cheerful service and great fellowship. The registration deadline is on Wednesday, April 5, 2017. Fee of $30 will include lodging, meals, OATC long-sleeve work t-shirt, and one set of OATC lodge flaps.

Conclave 2017 will be hosted by Blue Heron Lodge #349 at Pipsico Scout Reservation in Spring Grove, Virginia. The dates are April 28-30, 2017. The lodge registration fee is $55.00. Transportation will be coordinated by chapters. A conclave is where the lodges of the section (Section SR-7A consists of 6 Virginia lodges) get together for training, competition, and fellowship. Of course, the Saturday night block party is a feast that shouldn’t be missed. Conclave also gives OA members the opportunity to visit the different camps across the state.  Please visit for more information.

Nawakwa Lodge is offering scholarships of $200 - $500 for this summer. Please download, complete, and submit the Scholarship Application Form. Applications submitted by January 15th will be given preference; however, applications submitted after that date will be considered until all available scholarships have been awarded.

Each summer, the Order of the Arrow offers a myriad of different High Adventure opportunities to meet your summer needs whether its wetting your appetite by going for a plunge in the Atlantic Ocean with the Ocean Adventure at the Florida Sea Base; maybe hiking is your passion, what better place to go than the Philmont Scout Ranch where you can hike the same trails as your Scoutmaster or Scouting ancestors as a part of your Trail Crew experience. OA service goes international in the Ontario wilds, and you can embark on the odyssey of a lifetime, transcending borders and the spirit of the Order. Have you ever given thought about what the Native Americans and early explorers did to be avid traders, maybe the OA Wilderness Voyage at the Charles L. Sommers Canoe Base is calling. Perhaps you want to explore the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve and provide service while enjoying time on and around the New River Gorge National River. Experience rafting and kayaking while building bonds of brotherhood. Whatever your summer aspirations may be, these National High Adventure bases have put together a multitude of options for you.

Your 2017 membership dues ($15) should be paid now. All current and recently inducted members (2016 and earlier) must pay their dues for the 2017 year in order to continue to receive The Tom-Tom and in order to be eligible to attend lodge functions.
